FAQ

Please note: We don't sell grease.

In case of grease lubrication (please specify when ordering) the ballscrews will be delivered lubricated with KLUEBER STABURAGS NBU 8 EP.

General requirements

  • Grease pump or metering central grease supply
  • Ballnut with lube port and wipers
  • Greases used should have "EP"-additives.

Grease Selection
We recommend ball bearing grease made by Klueber Lubrication (see also CSEM lubricant test).

Re-lubrication has to be considered carefully, as ballscrews show higher loss of lubricant than ball bearings. There is no general guideline as to the length of lubrication intervals. This depends on speeds, accelerations, and environment. Soiling due to dirt, dust, chips, agressive fumes and fluids may require even shorter intervals. If in doubt, ask our engineering service.

In applications, where access to the ballscrew is difficult or impossible, our ballscrews can be supplied with factory-life lubrication. In such cases, special felt wipers will be used that are impreganted with lubricant. However, such applications have to be reviewed carefully. Short-stroke, oczillating operations is specially demanding regarding lubrication!

Ballscrews nominal diameter 16 mm and larger having long-term lubrication, or that are connected to a ccentral lubricant supply, are usually re-lubricated automatically. Miniature ballscrews nominal diamter 16 mm and smaller require manal re-lubrication.

Extreme operation conditions, such as strong vibrations, or extended use at high speeds may cause excessive heat generation and shortened life of the ballscrew. In case of extreme environments like ambient temperatures below -20° C, or above +100° C, vacuum, radiation, clean room conditions, or in aerospace applications we recommend you use our engineering service for further assistance.
