Only superior products have a chance of surviving long-term, and this is why the straight-jacket of conventional standards was never a measure of quality for Steinmeyer. The regulations according to which measuring instruments are made here are far tougher.

One example: when lapping the measuring surfaces, only half the usually allowed tolerance is accepted, both for flatness and parallelism characteristics. The same applies to spindle pitch, guide clearance and many other aspects.

In this way, Steinmeyer micrometers fulfil all requirements. Not only when brand-new, but after many decades of use.
